Cheap Website or Smart Investment? The Real Cost of a Poor Web Project
A low initial website price is not a problem by itself. It becomes a problem when that price is achieved by removing things the business will need later: a sound structure, a good mobile experience, SEO-ready URLs, security, scalability, backups, technical support or straightforward content management.
That is why, when comparing quotes for website design and development, the important question is not only “how much does it cost?” but what exactly is included and how easily the website can be supported after delivery.
The cheapest project can create a second cost
A website that needs extensive fixes soon after launch can ultimately cost more than a properly planned implementation. The cost is not only financial. It can include staff time, delays, wasted advertising campaigns, difficult content updates and the need to rebuild the project.
This does not mean that every affordable quote is poor or that every expensive quote is good. A meaningful comparison is based on specifications, deliverables and implementation quality.
1. Which CMS and architecture will be used?
Ask how content will be managed, whether your team can update text and images without a developer and whether the structure can support new pages or functionality later.
For corporate websites, we use Joomla when it fits the project requirements, while for online stores we specialise in PrestaShop.
2. Is responsive design included?
A good desktop layout is not enough. Menus, forms, buttons, tables, images and interactive components must work across different screen sizes.
Responsive design requires real testing. It is not simply a checkbox because a modern theme was installed.
3. Is the website SEO-ready?
Website development and SEO are different services, but the site architecture should not create problems from the start. It needs clean URLs, a correct heading structure, canonical handling where required, redirects when URLs change and practical metadata controls.
If organic growth is a goal, the next step is a dedicated SEO strategy, not merely installing a plugin.
4. What about performance and hosting?
A website can look polished but perform poorly because of heavy assets, an ineffective caching strategy, problematic extensions or unsuitable hosting.
A proper implementation considers the front end, CMS and hosting together, without making arbitrary promises about one speed score on every page and device.
5. Who will manage updates and security?
Joomla, PrestaShop, extensions and modules continue to evolve. Before choosing a partner, you should know what happens when an update, bug fix or compatibility change is required.
A website should not be abandoned because it has been “delivered”. Whether support is included or purchased separately, its scope should be clear.
6. Are backups and restoration covered?
A backup is useful only if it can be restored when needed. Check who creates the backups, how often they run, how long they are retained and what the restoration process includes under the selected hosting or support package.
7. Can the website grow?
Many requirements appear after the first release: CRM or ERP connections, newsletters, analytics, forms, bookings, payments, courier integrations, marketplaces or custom business logic.
A project with a clean architecture supports these additions without forcing the entire website to be rebuilt each time.
8. Who owns the domain, hosting and accounts?
The business should know who has access to the domain registrar, hosting account, CMS administration, Analytics, Search Console and other critical services. Dependence on one supplier simply because only that supplier holds the credentials is a poor practice.
9. What does the quote actually include?
Two quotes with different prices may not describe the same project. Compare:
- the number and type of pages,
- design and customisation,
- content migration,
- forms and integrations,
- the SEO-ready setup,
- analytics and tracking,
- hosting and email,
- training,
- support after delivery.
10. Portfolio and real technical experience
Review real projects, not only an attractive template. If you need e-commerce, check whether the supplier understands products, stock, payments, couriers, ERP systems, marketplaces and custom modules — not only front-end appearance.
The right question is not “who is the cheapest?”
The better question is: which solution meets the real needs of the business at a reasonable total cost without creating a technical dead end?
Some projects can be simple and affordable. Others need a larger investment because of integrations, content or specialist functionality. That is why one arbitrary price cannot apply to every website.

What we offer
We provide professional website development, PrestaShop stores, SEO, hosting and custom integrations. Before preparing a quote, we review the actual requirements so that the scope and cost are clear.
If you have a specific budget, we can identify which features are essential for the first phase and which can be introduced later without compromising the project’s core technical quality.
